LinkedIn MCP for Claude.

linkfetch-mcp connects Claude Desktop and Claude Code to LinkedIn through the Model Context Protocol. Claude gets 24 tools: job search, profiles, companies, people and post search, and your inbox. It calls them directly, with no browser automation. Setup is one config block and $5 of credit is free.
§ 01 · setup

Connect Claude to LinkedIn in four steps.

  1. step 01

    Get an API key

Sign in at linkfetch.io and copy a key from the dashboard. New accounts get $5 of credit, which is enough for a few hundred job searches or dozens of profile lookups.

  2. step 02

    Add the server to Claude

Claude Desktop: open Settings → Developer → Edit Config, paste the block below into claude_desktop_config.json, then fully quit and reopen Claude. Claude Code: run the one-line command. Both need Node.js 18 or newer for npx.

  3. step 03

    Ask Claude about LinkedIn

LinkFetch shows up in Claude's tools menu. Ask in plain English. Claude picks the tool, calls it, and answers from typed JSON. It doesn't open a browser or take screenshots.

  4. step 04

    Optional: connect your LinkedIn

Jobs tools work with the key alone. People search, posts and your inbox run in your own LinkedIn session, through the Chrome extension or Cloud mode, inside published safety limits.

claude.ai only takes remote MCP connectors, and this server runs locally, so use Claude Desktop or Claude Code for now. The same block works in Cursor, Windsurf and Zed; see the MCP docs.

people & companies
  • “Summarise this profile and tell me what we have in common: linkedin.com/in/…”

§ 03 · options

Ways to give Claude LinkedIn access, compared.

approachhow it workstrade-off
LinkFetch MCPClaude calls typed tools over the LinkFetch API. Jobs come from a pre-built index; member data comes through your own session, cache-first.Metered per call (1 credit per job search, 5 per profile). No browser on your machine, and safety limits are enforced before LinkedIn is touched.
Browser-automation MCP serversA local Playwright or Puppeteer browser logs in with your cookies and clicks through LinkedIn pages for Claude.Free and open source, but slow, fragile when LinkedIn's markup changes, and nothing stops an agent loop from triggering a restriction on your account.
Posting / scheduling toolsContent tools expose a write-and-schedule-posts API to Claude.Good for publishing your own content. Not built for search, enrichment, jobs or reading other people's data.
LinkedIn's official APIOAuth apps against LinkedIn's Marketing or Community Management APIs.Officially supported, but profile, people-search and job data require partner approval most teams never get.
§ 04 · faq

LinkedIn + Claude questions.

  • Is there a LinkedIn MCP server for Claude?

Yes. linkfetch-mcp is a Model Context Protocol server that gives Claude 24 LinkedIn tools: job search and job detail, profile and company lookups, people, company, post and group search, posts and reactions, and your own inbox. LinkedIn itself does not publish an official MCP server.

  • How do I connect Claude to LinkedIn?

Get a LinkFetch API key, add the linkfetch server to claude_desktop_config.json (Claude Desktop) or run "claude mcp add" (Claude Code), and restart. The whole setup is one config block and takes about two minutes.

  • Does it work on claude.ai in the browser?

Not yet. claude.ai only accepts remote MCP connectors, and the LinkFetch server runs locally over stdio. Use Claude Desktop or Claude Code for now. A hosted connector is on the roadmap.

  • Will using Claude with LinkedIn get my account restricted?

Job tools never touch your account. Tools that use your session run inside published per-minute, per-day and per-week limits (for example at most 100 connection requests a week). Claude can check the remaining budget with linkfetch_safety_status before a bulk task.

  • Does it need my LinkedIn password?

No. Jobs data needs only the API key. Member data goes through your existing logged-in session, via the Chrome extension or an opt-in, encrypted Cloud mode connection you can revoke from the dashboard.

  • What does it cost?

The same credits as the REST API: flat cost per call, empty results free. $5 free on sign-up, then Starter at $29/month or Pro at $99/month.
